Visitation: A celebration of Amber's life will be held at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711 on Wednesday March 21, 2012 from 6 - 8:00 p.m.
Our precious Amber was taken from us on Friday March 16, 2012. She was 20 years old. Amber was a ray of sunshine in the lives of so many who knew her.
Amber was a graduate of Christiana High School. During her high school years she also attended the Networks School, where she has been continuing her education. Through the Networks School, Amber volunteered at Faithful Friends and helped socialize animals for adoption. She especially enjoyed helping 'Tonya', a special needs cat. She was an avid bowler and swimmer for the V.I.P. Special Olympics teams, winning numerous gold, silver and bronze medals. Amber had a love and passion for helping animals and children with disabilities. She took great pride in mentoring many other children to be the very best they could be. She wanted so much to volunteer at A.I. DuPont Children's Hospital to help ease the concerns of children who were having surgery.
Amber is survived by her father, Jeffrey Benson and his fiance' Patricia Becker, sister Stephanie Becker; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Ruth Anne Benson; maternal grandparents, Robert and Nancy Brynes and David and Dawn Bach; uncles Dwayne Benson and James Bach and aunt Leysa Mercaldo; honorary grandmother Patricia Lodise, as well as numerous other relatives and her dogs Goldie and Muffin.
A very special thanks to the excellent teachers at the Networks School as well as all the doctors, nurses and staff at A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children. Amber was fortunate to go to A.I. for 20 years. Many of the doctors, nurses and staff, as well as the Networks faculty were part of her extended family.
A celebration of Amber's life will be held at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711 on Wednesday March 21, 2012 from 6 - 8:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
